5th Annual Scarsdale Concours Scheduled for June 15th, 2008
On Sunday, June 15th the village of Scarsdale will host the Scarsdale Concours, an event which has become a staple of the North Eastern show calendar. The 2008 Scarsdale Concours will be the fifth annual and should further establish what Concours co-founder and college sophomore Denis O'Leary hopes will become a perennial tradition in his community. Said O’Leary, "the Concours has been so enjoyable and every year the quality of the event improves. The show has generated its own positive momentum which is contagious. This year we look forward to raising more money and showing more cars than ever before." Indeed, if past success is any indication, the Scarsdale Concours has a bright future, having raised well over $125,000 since the first event in the summer of 2004. This remarkable success is not surprising: the Concours is not the average charity event organized by college students; it is, in fact, a world-class car show featuring masterpieces that would impress and attract any automotive aficionado or amateur car lover. Some of last year's most notable entries in the show included a 1958 Ferrari Testarossa--winner of the show's Best Italian Car contest--and a 1968 Ford GT 40 MkIIB, which placed first in the Supercar Category. Other interesting entries break from the usual and have included Saudi Military vehicles and the dramatically futuristic 1977 Ford Megastar concept car.
Vintage and modern high-performance vehicles from around the world have been presented in each of the Concours' past events, and this year will be no different. As in the past, attendees will be able to not only experience the cars up close, but perhaps even in motion, as those in attendance will once again have the opportunity to place bids on rides in the cars. But not only can car lovers count on being impressed, they can rest assured that any donations they make will be put to good use. Proceeds from the 2008 Scarsdale Concours will go to benefit the Scarsdale Police Department and Scarsdale Volunteer Fire Companies. Over the years numerous community charitable organizations have benefited from the generous donations made by those who continue to attend the event, and this year's charities will do so as well--hopefully as the result of both record attendance and record generosity at this year's even bigger and more exciting event.

4th Annual Scarsdale Concours declared "Unprecedented Success"
On Sunday June 10th 2007 residents of Scarsdale awoke to find their village center transformed. Early that morning approximately 100 new and vintage sports cars from around the tri state area rendezvoused in Scarsdale for what is fast becoming one of the highlights of the North Eastern auto show calendar: the Scarsdale Concours.
The Scarsdale Concours was created in 2004 by then Scarsdale High School Sophomores, now rising college sophomores, Evan M. Cygler and Denis O'Leary III. Both Cygler and O'Leary recalled that "In Fall of 2003 we were talking about doing something that would involve our love of cars and benefit the community. The simple idea of a car show snowballed into our first Concours." The idea immediately received support from the local constituencies including the police, local government, merchants and car collectors, support which enabled the first event to raise close to twenty thousand dollars. Since that first year the Concours has gone on to raise well over one hundred thousand dollars for organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, the Scarsdale Police Department and the Scarsdale Volunteer Fire Department.
Like the 2006 and 2005 shows, the 2007 event played host to an astonishing variety of vintage European automobiles. Some of the event highlights included a 1958 Ferrari Testarossa, which won Best Italian Car and a 1968 Ford GT 40 MkIIB, which took first place in the Supercar category. This year, the Concours also played host to some highly unusual cars such as a 1990 Lamborghini LM002, an SUV designed in the 1980’s for the Saudi Military, the dramatically futuristic 1977 Ford Megastar concept car by Ghia and the oddly styled 1968 Sabra, one of the few cars produced in Israel. Pictures. These and other cars at the event can be found on the Concours website www.ScarsdaleConcours.com. Some of this year’s 4,000 attendees took the opportunity to bid on a ride in cars at the show, giving them the opportunity to experience these cars first hand while supporting local charities.
While both Evan and Denis were both delighted with the success of the 2007 event and show will be donating close to thirty thousand dollars to the Scarsdale Police Department and the Scarsdale Volunteer Fire Department. They are currently planning the 2008 Concours, which they say, will be bigger and more exciting.

Scarsdale Concours scheduled for Sunday, June 10th 2007
Denis O’Leary III and Evan Cygler, founders of the Scarsdale Concours and college freshmen, will host their fourth annual show in Scarsdale Village on Sunday, June 10th, 2007 to benefit area charities. The show will exhibit an extensive collection of exotic cars including marks such as Ferrari, Rolls Royce, Aston Martin, Lamborghini, Porsche and Bentley.
“Building on the success of prior years, Evan and I are creating an event that everyone can enjoy and will raise money for charity while we are at it” said Denis O’Leary. "In the last three shows we raised over $100,000.00; this year we hope to raise over $40,000 more.”
The 2006 show was shortened slightly due to a late afternoon shower but was deemed by many to be a success, Denis O’Leary III, co-founder stated, “This show was our best, particularly in regard to the quality of cars and event judging.” The 2006 Concours featured close to one hundred exotic and vintage automobiles including the Ferrari Enzo, Cunningham C2, Maserati 450S Costin-Zagato Coupe, and the Corvette from the Austin Power’s film “The Spy Who Shagged Me.” Event Judges included automobile aficionados and journalists with experience from the Pebble Beach, Amelia Island and Greenwich Concours.
“Twenty-five hundred attendees from across the Tri-State area gave the village a level of energy that it rarely experiences on a Sunday afternoon,” said Evan Cygler. “We were delighted to see yet another year of attendance growth, demonstrating the popularity of the relaxed, family friendly format.”
Like last year’s show, the 2007 Concours is going to be a real community effort according to Evan Cygler: “Once again, we are receiving great support, starting with the Scarsdale Police Department and Village Hall and all of our sponsors including, Wilson and Son Jewelers, Miller Motorcars, Mercedes Benz of White Plains, New York Motor Club, Lamborghini Burgen County and Grand Prix New York. We’re looking forward to putting together what promises to be one of our best shows yet.”
The show will open at 10:30 a.m. and finish at 4 p.m. Funds will be raised from voluntary admission donations, food and beverage sales, a silent auction of goods and services donated by area merchants, and entry fees. Trophies will be awarded in each class.
The rain date for the show is June 24th.
